Baseball is easy when you get good pitching. Usually. Unless your hitting disappears and that's what happened. Fair to call the team soft or weak or chokers, but need to add that the pitchers did a great job in this particular instance. They didn't let anyone down, even if there are weaknesses on the roster that we want fixed before next year.

You can't really say the whole team didn't battle. The pitching staff was phenomenal and that's half the team. Bats are the culprit for this series. They also were the culprit during the September swoon and while I think the hitting was better than the pitching from mid-June thru August, the offense was still underachieving compared to the talent level.

Fair enough to acknowledge the pitching. Ive been obsessed with the position players

Head over to another huge Os website and pay to be trolled and insulted by its owner.
As RIcker said here earlier, thank you Stoner.

Just once I want to be happy. I’m prolly dead in 30 years or so. Running out of time.
Still got time with Locksley and the Terps.

Odd, he's a rookie and he was above the league average in on base percentage.
He's only going to be better next year
In theory yes. But given how much a lot of the bats regressed this year I am not as confident as I want to be.

Yep. I’m literally sick to my stomach. Have to wait a cool, smooth 6 months for baseball again after yet another sweep.
6 months I invested for them to perform like this. We all deserved better. Everyone of us that followed every night deserved better than this effort.

I just can't seem to get as upset about this one as last year or 2014. All credit to the Orioles for that, they really prepared me well for this moment with 3 months of some really uninspiring baseball.

1-13 w/RISP for the series, and the one hit didn't drive in a run. They either hit a bunch of solo HRs, or they lose. That was largely the story of the second half of the season offense.
It was also the downfall of the playoff teams from the previous decade (except 2012, they just ran into a better NY team). History is repeating itself.

The Cowser strikeout with the bases loaded put the exclamation point on the 1 for 13 stat. The guy was obviously trying to do too much. I sincerely hope that the injury doesn't require surgery.1-13 w/RISP for the series, and the one hit didn't drive in a run. They either hit a bunch of solo HRs, or they lose. While I am frustrated and get the overall temperature of the board, I think that the outcome of the series is not that surprising. The team disappeared offensively for stretches during the second half. While KC pitched well, the Orioles pressed their way out of the series. They choked offensively as a club.
I doubt Hyde is fired, however, I believe that there is something going on in the clubhouse that needs to be addressed. IMO, the Hays situation was the first crack in the foundation. Apparently, he was becoming a distraction after he lost PT. Maybe there's some cliques that need to be broken up? This kind of stuff rots you from within.
My prediction is that Hyde will have to get rid of some of his coaches, but He'll keep his job. The only way that they get rid of him is if someone they covet unexpectedly becomes available. That said, He deservedly is on the hot seat. If they don't make the playoffs, or if they are as lifeless as they were in this series, He'll be gone

I think this expresses how I feel as well. Very disappointed and upset, but not unexpected so it lessens the hit. Wouldn't feel as bad if this had been the result in 2022, that would feel like momentum. This year was a backslide despite the roster being stronger than 2023.

I'm not surprised they got swept again. I've grown to expect it as a Baltimore sports fan. But the way it happened is what gets me. Bases loaded no outs, no runs. I mean that has been happening all year but I still expected them to produce at least a run there. I still can't believe how that inning went down. I'll dwell on it all offseason.

I haven't read through this whole thread, but the Caps had numerous first round flame outs with their core group before finally breaking through. Different sport obviously but I'm starting to get those same vibes/feelings from this team. Love that we have a winning team again, but it's starting to get to the point where the regular season is becoming irrelevant to my feelings about the team.
