Mullins in lineup again. Herpes

Not long ago some were calling for Santander and Urias to go as well and now they have an OPS+ of 125 and 109 respectively.

They were just two that people wanted gone.  Hays, Mateo, irvin and others have been wished gone at some point this year.

And if Bradish gets shelled today, everyone will want him sent to the IL pronto.  Including me!  (LOL)

To be fair, Urias is a back up player who spells the regulars. It's not the same category of player. I'm a Taters fan, so I don't know what the problem is that people have with him.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

Hays, yes. My memory is that Mateo was mostly just deemed replaceable. I don't remember Irvin being wished away.

Santander has always had a history of streakiness as a hitter. It wasn't a matter of if, but when, he'd eventually heat up.

It's fair to question if Cedric's days as a starting caliber player are over.

Everything, including his speed, has been trending in the wrong direction for a while now.

Santander has only had two months in 2023-24 with an OPS under 700, both in the 600s. People say a lot of things in the moment but no one reasonable wanted him gone I hope.

Mullins is now at 575 OPS for the past 365 days. His savant page is fully blue except whiff and range. They aren’t close to the same. I’m not saying to cut him, he has options but we don’t really have much at CF. He’s basically at defensive replacement level right now.

Mullins decline has been over a long period of time, not just a couple of months.  The free fall has been extensive.  I know loyalty accounts for something but at some point, a decision is going to have to be made.  It's still a business at the end of the day.  I would say if his futility is the same by the All-Star break(especially if they're 5-10 games behind the Yankees), he'll be either gone or relegated to the bench, with one of the AAA outfielders officially part of the roster.

I mean, he's basically been relegated to the bench for a while now. Problem is, Hays has been just as bad and no one from AAA is capable of LF at OPACY while Cowser takes CF full time.

Mateo could maybe take some CF reps, but he's been needed at 2B and the O's have been reluctant to go with Urias and/or Norby.

Mateo also isn't likely a huge offensive upgrade over Mullins and defense is probably worse.

Mullins is so obviously a backup player at this point in his career, and the Orioles are giving him ABs at the expense of a better player.

That’s my problem with seeing him in the lineup so much, anyway.
