I'd guess it's organizationally intentional. The the number of Games matters more if you are throwing more in those games. It appears they think they can keep use rates (ie pitches per outing) much lower and make guys available more. Kind of a flat burn rate versus more of a heartbeat burn rate.

All Managers in todays Game get a script. The Manager has to sit between the public/media and buffer the Analytics department.

It's comically ignorant to not understand that every Team, especially the Orioles, is doing this.

What a load of horsecrap you just made up. Par for the course

Sucks

Losing Felix totally exposed them. And Elias did little to address that

I knew the day when Kimbrel was signed he’d be a disaster.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Mason Miller certainly goes up to near the top on the dream acquisition list.

I don't see why Oakland would give him up. They'll have a new stadium in Las Vegas before he hits free agency. They'd have to really value hitting over pitching to take a deal like Kjerstad for him.

Maybe, but no one buys tickets to watch relief pitchers.

The good news is that bullpens can be built up like Texas did last year. While urgency may be warranted, however, it can't speed up a solution.

They wouldn't, at least for anything anyone would be willing to pay.

They are going to hold onto a closer because they will have a new stadium in 2028?

They have little talent anywhere.

A closer on a horrible team doesn't do much.
They should move him and get multiple team controlled players back.

Vespi for tomorrow I think . Long term oh boy. Where do we find some  "stuff" arms. Charles may be one but he has to throw strikes. McDermott has to get the BBs under control as well but he is also one..  Phelan may know if there are any other potential high K arms in the org. Povich def has to stay in the rotation IMO

I agree Povich stays as a starter, he's pitching like a TOR right now.

Charles and McDermott you mentioned. Suarez will play up in the bullpen. Vespi and Krook are similar. Armbruester has been struggling big time to start the year but its been an issue of not being able to throw his offspeed pitches for strikes, was better last time out. His fastball is very good. Kade Strowd, Keagan Gillies, and Dylan Heid in Bowie could move fast and help out in the second half. Seth Johnson, Trey McGough, Brandon Young, and Kyle Brnovich also could be options by then.

Miller would be too expensive and he has a long injury history. I'd go after Erceg instead.

Baker is just Baumann, Ramirez, Webb with a different name. Good enough arm, could have decent results, could implode at any time.

Tanner Scott. Should be obtainable.
He's my first choice.

Was great last year. Back to being Tanner Scott this year. 10 IP, 12 BB, 10k 1.78 WHIP.

I wouldn't count him as a trusted arm.

Is he available now?  I doubt it.  Also major performance concerns as Baltbird points out.  Miami probably wants to see him get right and then try to sell him high in July.

Hunter Harvey is an option too. Get the band back together.

I'd trust Darren O'Day submarining 78 MPH frisbee balls over 90% of the current BP.

They're going to bring in at least one high quality arm.
Maybe they'll bring in two and have options.  Nobody might be 'the guy', but maybe they'll get to a point where they have several options they feel good about.
