Gunnar is smashing the ball.
Westburg says he can keep up.

Love Westy's look right now.
I previously said that Westburg should be concerned about having his spot taken by Mayo, which could still happen longterm, but he's cementing his spot in the lineup for at least the near future. Fantastic to see!

Mayo's realistic shot is replacing Mountcastle at 1B. Prorate his 4 errors in his first 13 games of the season this year, and that's 50 errors, which would be 2.5x higher than the MLB leader in errors at 3B last year, Rafael Devers with 19.
He has 52 errors at 3B in his minor league career spanning 2041 innings since 2021. Again, Devers leads MLB over that same timespan with 56 errors, yet he's done so over 3876 innings.
IMO his bat's way above any reality of him being able to stick at 3B on a championship contending team.

I know Jackson is a level headed, mature kid but man, I'm actually starting to feel bad for him. I wish he'd drag a bunt for a hit his first time up(if there's no one on base) just to release some of the pressure I'm sure he's feeling. I really hope he doesn't get sent back down but it sure seems like it's heading in that direction. Even Gunnar had SOME hits when he was struggling early last year.

Reminds me of Johan in his prime. Just unhittable FB/CH combo.

To me I still see a different "look" between what I saw from Cowser last year and Holliday so far this year. Cowser just looked unathletic and lost. Looked like he'd never played baseball in his life. What I see from Holliday is a young kid who's nervous but still looks the part.
And since Cowser has wowed me I still have no worries about Holliday.

Not a dominant game from GR, he's been a little off with the fastball and fallen behind too many hitters. But the changeup has looked very good. I'd call it an effective outing.

Great pitchers have ways to stay effective even when all their weapons aren't working. That's what we're seeing

Quick innings here and let Yohan finish for the save.
