Corbin's curve was unhittable yesterday, if he can continue that command of the curve this season = CY

And it's not even his best pitch.

"The @Orioles are going to be unbelievable this year!" @Xavier_Scruggs reacts to Corbin Burnes' electric debut in Baltimore and the impressive #OpeningDaywin in #Birdland

Personally I believe the Orioles should give Corbin Burnes a large sum of United States Dollars in exchange for him pitching for this team for many years to come.

Yet again, the Norfolk roster is a who's-who of high-level Orioles hitting prospects, from Jackson Holliday and Coby Mayo to Heston Kjerstad and Connor Norby. Who is the new Tides hitting coach meant to help get them all to Baltimore? Meet Mike Montville.

He designed a second, tighter curveball this offseason to get more whiffs.

Kind of a tangent but I always thought the whole "I learned a new pitch in the offseason!" was a load of bull, but now with pitch tracking you can see meaningful year over year differences in pitches (e.g. spin rate, spin orientation, etc.) and it's kind of interesting.

Corbin Burnes and Grayson Rodriguez are the first pair of #Orioles starters in franchise history to open a season with consecutive starts of 6+ IP, 1 R or fewer allowed and 8+ strikeouts.

Well that's crazy. Guess strikeouts were way down back in the glory days, because I'm sure there were plenty of times the parade of All Star pitchers we had in the sixties and seventies hit those first two criteria.

The Orioles never had big strikeout pitchers. Only one of those pitchers did it once in the 60s, 70s, 80s and that was McNally at 202. Orioles only have 5 total. I could see them having 2 this year.

Gunnar Henderson’s talents were on display in jaw-dropping fashion in the Orioles’ opening weekend series. The thing that could take him to the next level in 2024 was much less flashy: the walks.
