Kevin Willard has reportedly hired Kevin Norris as an assistant coach, filling the void left by Mike Jones. Norris is a Baltimore native who’s spent the last 8 years as a UCF assistant. He was also on Andy Enfield’s FGCU “Dunk City” staff.

Apparently Keith Cavanaugh thinks Reese is staying at Maryland, and Rodney Rice will be transferring in. Based on his track record, you can probably assume the opposite will happen.

Martinez playing so well bummed me out. I was expecting him to start this year and was excited about him. One of the few transfers recently that really bugged me. Moreso than Hart or Morsell.

Averaged 13.4 PPG for Utah St. That’s super annoying to lose players to the Mountain West. Ugh. The Aggies also lost former UMBC HC Odom and had to hire a new coach. How can Maryland not compete with a situation like that?

Always weary of guys who come from smaller schools, but I guess we did get Jahmir from Charlotte.

The goal with transfers from smaller schools should be to challenge current rostered players for minutes. Not be a panacea / replacement for departed players. 

 

Then again, Cam Spencer averages over 32 mpg for UConn. His career arc has been Loyal MD (3 seasons), Rutgers, UConn.

So what's the background on Rice?  He missed the first half of his freshman year then left the team and didn't play at all this past season.  Why?  He'll have 3 years of eligibility left?

Good addition, particularly after Mike Jones left the staff. Hard to know what to expect from him after the injury and lack of game time. But he’s certainly talented, and will be in the mix for the starting SG spot.

My understanding is that both are still expected to transfer. Long’s situation with his knee could change his plans, though.

Seems like Reese will come down to money. If they can get that right, he likely stays.
