Actually Boras has been getting taken to the cleaners in what he wants vs gets over the last decade plus EXCEPT for the 18 months or so heading into the last couple CBA negotiations.  MLB (likely intentionally) has let him screw them to undermine his influence in the negotiations.  If your guys are getting paid, you can't argue guys aren't getting paid.  He has worked to gain control (clients) of the 8 guys on the 2 committees that do a lot of the work for MLBPA (last CBA he had 5 of them).

This offseason reminds me more of 2018 where he was promising a lot to a lot of guys and all of his clients fell well short.  Everyone will still get paid and I understand 9/270 is just designed to make 8/200 seem reasonable (why anyone falls for this, I don't know)...but Boras will likely resort to the Scherzer strategy (or more recently the extreme Ohtani strategy) to make the number look bigger than it is.

Nobody has been willing to take the Giants money in recent years.  I could see Chapman, Bellinger and Snell all taking heavily deferred deals to bump up the perceived total and try and make a statement together, at least that's what it would be sold as.  Then Boras lavishes them publicly.

Someone should tell Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Holliday, and his who’s who of clients what a terrible agent he is so they can get proper representation.

A lot of his cache is older perception.  He's really hurt a number of clients, mostly because (many) teams are wising up to his silliness.  When he fails his guys, you see rule changes in the next CBA because he doesn't accept accountability for his approach when it costs guys money.

I'm not saying don't sign his guys, but you don't have to negotiate.  My offer is my offer, take it or leave it.

People gather around him in the winter and give him credibility he only has because they give it to him.  He actually hurts The Game.  Like many other people/places, hey congrats for snowing people over, but the clients that use him, with rare exception, pick Team Boras over the uniform they wear.  He's the voice Gunnar and Jackson will listen to because they picked him to be the voice they listen too.  It's fine for now, but there'll be a day.

Ask for whatever you want.  Sit out the season.

I’m not a Scott Boras fan by any means but he’s been an agent for over 50 years. You’re telling me teams are wising up to his tactics? About time. I’m sure some of his negotiations and tactics have backfired but you get new clients by reputation and word of mouth. Apparently, most of his current and previous clients are happy with him. You may not be happy with him for whatever reasons and he’s certainly not going to encourage Henderson or Holliday to extend for anything less than record setting extensions, if that, but if the man wasn’t doing his job well I find it hard to believe how he keeps signing the top players and prospects. I’m sure you’ve got a theory.

I think that by and large he still does right by his clients that are seeking top dollar. He has definitely missed on some of his gambles more recently, so his success rate has decreased pretty significantly. But it felt like he had a run where he pretty much never failed, so it would have been impossible not to fall off from that.

I think he overplayed his hand with Snell. This wouldn't be the first time he did so under the QO system. I can't imagine he's a fan of that system.

If I recall correctly, his success rate was never as sterling as the persona would lead you to believe. He's been mostly successful, but his record has always been peppered with misses.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

Corbin Burnes not available. The truth hurts.

This didn't age well.

Dude could have done a lot worse. Got his deserved shot in. And we move on and count down the days to when we get to see Corbin Burnes pitch to Adley Rutschman on opening day.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

It wasnt in this thread but Im pretty sure the trade offer dude wanted to give Mil for Burnes was too much because he always undervalues Os players.

Mountcastle, Norby and Ortiz (LAD/Lux) for Burnes, CompB and 1.75M in IFA Pool. They want another piece off the top 30.

He threw in stuff Mil was never gonna give up but this isnt as bad as most dude proposals. Baltimore was not gonna trade Mountcastle in a deal for Burnes either.  But value wise if you take out the Comp B and 1.75 mil Mil was never gonna give up the value is relatively close.

It was a 4 word post, which I truly didn’t think was possible. I was and remain legitimately proud of him for that.
