Isiah Kiner-Falefa just got 2/$15M from the Blue Jays, so maybe Urias and Mateo are worth a bit more than I'd have guessed.
Feels like a lot of agents and teams are going with the "cost per WAR" type assessment in these deals. Pitching, everything.
There are a LOT of teams pulling back this year with a number of National challenges and the very real issue of DSG and maybe (up to) half the Teams losing their media $$.
When you look at the available FA lists....there are a LOT of decent names on those lists, but this is musical chairs and there are more players than chairs. When the music stops, if you don't have a 26-man spot, you aren't getting paid anything. Don't be the FA or the team looking to deal a guy at that moment.
Go work your deals. You can't really hold another team hostage because there are other options. That's true in every direction for the guys the Orioles are interested in and for the Teams that may want some of the Orioles excess. Why relationships are important, they enable execution.
