The Twins won today and Cleveland lost. I'm not sure who holds the tiebreaker, but that either eliminates Cleveland or drops the magic number to 1. Hopefully that means Cleveland won't be playing as hard against the O's.

Remember when bullpen arms were easily replaceable? "Just put this guy there, it'll be fine."
Here we are.

The good thing about these West teams all winning and not falling off is it keeps pressure on Tor to keep winning. TB has Tor for 6 of their last 8.

True. Javier has had a bad year and they let him off the hook.
Yes, the pen is concerning to say the least, but this game is on the bats imo.

As soon as I saw we’re facing a near 5 era pitcher with 25 HR allowed I said we’re going to struggle scoring runs today. Bingo.

Flaherty could work in BP but he was traded for to be a SP. That reasoning doesn’t work with me.

Good news is the Angels are up on the Rays, 6-1, in the fourth and are threatening again.

On the micro level it doesnt bother me losing this game considering what you say here. Still, big picture we all know the BP has big issues.
This loss doesn't bother me at all for whatever reason. Bullpen depletion possibly costing us a win (as much as pitching can cost you anything when offense only scores one run) is the cost of doing business of burning through to secure the previous three wins. I'm fine with it in light of the bigger picture. Go win tomorrow. Cleveland and Washington next should be able to bury the Rays.

If the Orioles fall short, it is likely be in part because the BP is exhausted and the big guy got hurt. That plus we whiffed at the deadline in adding relievers.

I think they need to get Vespi and Irvin up ASAP. It does leave us too left handed though.

I'll share a few observations from being at the game. I saw two interesting O's jerseys: Mora and Alberto. That was unexpected. There were quite a few O's fans, and the "O" during the Nat. Anthem was pretty loud for an away game so far from Baltimore. I had a few Astros fans stop me and say how much they like the O's and how happy they are to see the O's going to the playoffs. I guess after years of their own futility, they recognized our suffering. Some fans behind us were heaping praise on Rutch. I had a couple of Astros fans admit that Houston sports fans are lame. And that Astros fans are almost entirely bandwagoners. Just like in Arlington, they needed to be told to cheer and get up on their feet for potentially big moments of the game. Kyle Tucker hits the ball hard...really hard. I was talking to people around me, throughout the game. When Fuji was brought in, I told them they're about to be very happy. I was surprised that he didn't give up the lead all by himself. Since the series was "in market" I wasn't able to watch the first two games through mlb.tv, from what I understand, those two games were very taxing on the BP, and Hyde had no choice but to use his B squad relievers. Like others have said, there's never a good time to bring in Fuji. And I'm really not sure why he's on the team.
Oh, and apparently people get really drunk at Astros games. Like stumbling, falling down drunk. I saw several people who had no idea where they were or what was going on around them. I have my experiences with leaning in hard at parties and what not. But I can't understand going to a sporting event or concert, and getting so hammered that you have no memory of being there.
All in all, it was a great game to be at. Not being able to get the W took a bit of the shine off of it. But pitchers' duels are always fun to watch.

And here we are two days later. And this one blown late inning lead in Hou is now 3 straight games where we were either tied or ahead late and blew it.
