Yeah, I didn't see that, but it was Urias that threw it away at 1B in the 9th.
I was casually following the game on the MLB app on my iPad, getting ready to shut down for the night. Of course, Cedric’s 3 run shot changed the late evening math. But yes, the MLB app simply replaced Mateo with Santander and acknowledged Henderson’s move to SS by putting Santander at 3B. Overnight they updated the play-by-play and box score with Urias. I have enough issues with Hyde to worry about him going mad-scientist over his late game substitutions!

Means has 2 Ks in 10 innings btw. Im not reading anything into it long term but that many balls in play and being a flyball pitcher is reason for some concern. Flahertys ERA sucks here but the K rate is the one good thing. Maybe they can convince him to go out and pitch in the pen. I dont think youre likely to see him on back to back days but he could give you two 1- 2 inning appeances in a playoff series
I am not that concerned with the strikeout numbers for Means, yet. I think as he pitches more his velocity will go up a tick or two and the K's will come. That said, I am concerned as to whether Means can get to being the John Means we want by G$ of the playoffs. I am a big Means fan and can't wait to see him teamed with Bradish and Grayson at the top of the Orioles rotation next year, but Gibson may be the G4 guy this year.
As for Flaherty, I mentioned after his knockout on Friday night, that they either had find a way to get some use out of him, or leave him off the playoff roster. He had good stuff the first couple innings Friday, and I think through 2 innings had 7 swing and miss pitches. Maybe he can be a guy who pitches big innings.
Heck I might try it tonight. He has to be willing to do it though.

Goddam Fuji gonna kill somebody.
I think that everytime I watch Fuji pitch. He is going to hit someone in the head. I also think when he buzzes someone, he gets careful and that is when he gets hit hard.

O'Hearn has to be up there as one of the best surprise pickups in O's history
This teams version of Steve Pearce.

Cedric has icewater in his veins. Cool, calm collected during his second postgame interview in a row where he won the game. Didn't overly celebrate his HR. I'd celebrate so much they'd be headhunting my next AB.

Biggest thing for Means is getting the secondary pitches sharper. You can get guys out on 91-92 mph if you slow your other pitches down accordingly. Best thing about Means is that he knows who he is and doesn't try to pitch outside of that.

I felt like he was just rocking and trying to throw to the edges. That's fine because you have to build back confidence and everything else.
I'd expect a normal offseason after some 2023 innings and Spring and we'll see the velocity back up to 94 and pull the command in just a little.
The question is what do the Orioles do with him after 2024.
