...and a nice job coming back from the opening loss on the road for this West Coast trip.

Games like this are easy to lose, but the Os have been resilient in them this season.  Not a given.

Cedric getting back up to speed.

Starting to hit the ball hard again.  Even the one on the infield was 105 off the bat.

Although Flaherty certainly wasn't impressive (again), I am at least a little encouraged by the seven punchouts. Maybe he can figure an out pitch again. And Jorge was at least throwing strikes, although I'm still not thrilled by him having to take up a spot on the active roster.

On to Anaheim and the "new look" Angels. Whatever that means. Maybe they'll waive the rest of their roster during the series.

Nice series win.

Good job in limiting the damage that Arizona's offense inflicted. (All of the homers were solo shots today.) The Orioles offense has picked it up the last two games. Continue the winning ways in Anaheim.

This team is tough.  A BS call helps Arizona tie it up, and the Orioles come right back and put 4 on the board.  Keep winning series boys and we are going to have a lot of fun down the stretch.

They've been great all year but this series win was especially sweet to me. Maybe since they lost the first game and were down 2-0 early yesterday.

The Orioles just keep coming, no matter how the game or series is going.  This year has been terrific.

What is the explanation for the runner going to second not being out for leaving the base path?

Piss Poor umpiring??

He has more talent but he reminds of Rich Dauer. Very solid.

Good comparison.   Although Westy would leave Dauer (aka Wacko) in the dust in regard to foot speed.

From what I read this morning, that part of the play isn't reviewable. They could only review to see whether or not the runner was tagged.

I get that part. He was on the freaking grass. That's out of the base paths every day and all day. Unreal they botched that call. They didn't do their job. But then IMO neither did Hyde. There are times when I think a manager needs to just come out of his shoes and throw a fit. That was one of those times.

Hyde will get tossed every great moon but he's just not that kind of guy.  Seems to be the polar opposite of Earl Weaver.  I wish he would get on these home plate umpires more often than he does because they get away with murder and their impossibly bad interpretations of the what the strikezone is.

I disagree somewhat about Hyde's response.

He came out and was fairly demonstrative about the call. It was probably apparent to him early on that they weren't going to confer or change the call.

He did the next best thing and had them review the call. I have to believe that the umpire crew heard some static about missing that call, or at least they should've.

Besides, the Orioles snapped back to win the game without their manager tossing a base or making a spectacle of himself. I could see him getting tossed if he needed to light a fire under his team. Hyde knows his guys are all business and that they take care of business. Instead, of managing the win from the clubhouse, he did it from the dugout.
