Im not sure if Gunnar is at 3b with Bordick at SS or Gunnar at SS and Ripken at 3b. Tge otger option is Surhoff at 3b and someone else in RF or DH. Baines or Davis are options at DH if we move Anthony to RF and bring BJ in. But 8 of these 9 are def starters

I feel pretty confident in all the starters. Bench I'm less sure. Davis as Jester mentioned was awesome. Hell Mateo might make sense over Bordick as the utility infielder, need someone SS eligible.

Cal was pretty suspect in 97 but Surhoff seemed to play a really good RF that year so yeah I prob roll with your starting 9 and wouldnt bring Surhoff in to 3b. For me its then Davis, Hoiles, Baines, and Mateo on the bench. I know that leaves the OF a little light. Davis can play out there if needed. So could Mateo in an emergency. I need a LH bat off the bench. Has to be OHearn or Baines. Case to be made for OHearn over Baines and Hammonds over Davis but Ill roll with the vets.

Im going with 13 pitchers and 26 man roster

Mussina
Key
Erickson
Bradish
GRod

Cano, Bautista, Benitez, Myers, Orasco, Rhodes, Coulombe, Wells.

Argument to be made for going with 14 position players and 12 in pen considering Mussina, Erickson, and Key would eat more innings. In that case Id prob bring Hammonds along for Coulombe.

There is truth there.

Take advantage of the opportunity in front of you because you never know.

Still, despite the record, I do think future Os teams will be be a bit stronger overall.

Another topic...again 97 and 23...
Make one team out of those two rosters.
How many 23 guys are on that combined team?

I'm going to watch a couple episodes of Patriot on Amazon and then tomorrow follow up with an official lineup/bench (vs RH and LH) and pitching staff.

Question - is this with the new dimensions or the ones from 1997?

81 games in 97, with 97 dimensions.
81 games in 23, with 23 dimensions.

Kamieniecki over Kremer or Rodriguez starting? Yikes.

Started and pitched 5 shutout innings in G5 of the ALCS that year (elimination game, too). He was a quality, back of the rotation arm during the era of steroid-infused lineups. I've got Rodriguez splitting starts with Bradish and Wells. I don't think Kremer makes the team.

Bradish has to be in the rotation.

Post call up Grayson would make it too imo if we can parse out performance like that.

Holy Cow, I knew Orosco was great that year, completely forgot he was already 40 in 97 and would still pitch another 5 years!
