Holy crap - the 2B ump has one job to do there, and that's call the runner safe - viewable by the man on the freakin moon.

Very strange sequence.

That was obvious. Not sure why it took that long.

O'Hearn screwed up by not confirming with the umpire the call on the field. But yeah, the 2B ump needs to shout that call to alert the runner who was sliding into the bag.

Have to wonder what the ump did too. I expected Hyde to come out after replay to ask if a safe call was ever made.

He may signaled safe initially.
Very strange sequence.
I don't think he made any call.

Umps generally don't yell safe.
They only signal it.
I don't know why, it's just what they do.

No clear shot during replay, but obviously not emphatic or OHearn would have stayed put

It's garbage if he didn't signal.
He was out of the frame on the MASN broadcast.

Mildly disagree. Especially at 1B, if for example the 1Baseman is pulled off, the umpires point and gesture to indicate why the runner is safe.

Yeah, if Anderson wasn't on the bag, then that falls on the first base coach to alert O'Hearn to stay on the bag. If the ump didn't rule safe or out, then he's a freakin moron. This isn't a situation where the baserunner misses the bag / homeplate.
Comedy of errors for that to happen.

Umps these days are generally not vocal with the safe or foul calls. They might point if a guy is off the bag, but they are generally not very vocal. They are vocal when they want to make a show out of calling someone out or to ring someone up on a k. I'm other words, when they can immerse themselves in the game. That was absolutely a situation where the safe call should been called out verbally.

It was sorta fun to hear Joan Jett talk about her fandom over the years, but whenever a big play like that goes down, we wind up losing out because the guys in the booth are distracted by the fact they're sitting next to (in this example) a RnR HOFer.

Nothing is worse than when they're interviewing a player or manager with an inning going on. I don't know who the first imbecile was to come up with that idea but its a joke.

LOL I don't listen to podcasts in the middle of a ball game.
