He's the worst player on the roster, IMO. No business being here a week from now. Really don't even understand why he was kept after his first appearance post IL. We can do better off the street, yet alone by trading away some mid-level prospects.

Rob Thomson knows a thing or two about leverage.
Going to Kimbrel in the 8th against the heart of the order is the right move.

He throws 96 from the left side. Its uncommon. He 100% will be claimed off waivers too and even if its by a non contender pre-deadline they will move him to a contender. So I get why they dont just want to drop him. Especially now. I still say trade him to a fringe NL contender or any NL contender really. You arent gonna get anything for him but if the fear is the BlueJays or Yanks figure out something with him you at least keep him out of the division and AL

PBP announcer was flabbergasted the Phils went with Kimbrel in the 8th against the O's 3-4-5 hitters with a two run lead?
Kimbrel doesn't even have to come out for the 9th (though since he made quick work of the O's, he might) for it to have still been the correct move.

Not that it was necessary but let it really sink in to Elias how much this pen still needs help.
Next 5 days should be interesting

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

He doesnt need to do anything drastic. He does need to sure up the pen at minimum. Ideally a SP too. But the BP help is a must. You have Irvin who hasnt pitched in forever just waiting to be demoted. Its clear Baker is a guy they dont want to use in any high lev spots unless last resort. So he can be optioned too. If you move Perez thats another roster spot though I just dont think they are gonna move him. You get two roster positions in Sept so you bring 1 or 2 back up then.
How the next 5 days go will really color my view on Elias going forward

The O's approach seems to be the opposite of the old saying "no guts no glory"

Tonight bothers me more than yesterday. Use the off day to recoup then lets pound the Yankees.

Ill take a 4-3 roadie. Especially since 3 of the 4 wins were against TB. They were lucky in some of these wins no doubt. It coulda been a 2-5 or even 1-6 road trip kinda easily
Or 6-1 if last night and tonight break different. Only one game wasn't close.

Sure but with how we are positioned overall and especially taking 3 of 4 from TB 4-3 works for me. We cant get ourselves in trouble playing .500 ball in these situations the rest of the year.

I totally get it. I also get why they dont want to just release him. The fear that he shows up in last years form facing them down the stretch or in the AL playoffs is scary. Find a fringe NL team that will take him. I know someone is willing to trade something for him.
Feature, not a bug.

What an annoying series.
Well, the Phillies are the defending NL champs. They haven't played that great for the most part but they're still a formidable opponent.
