I want to see Ortiz in the lineup tonight at shortstop.  I have become convinced the Orioles brought up Ortiz in part because he was on the 40, but also because they felt more comfortable with him sitting on the bench instead of other top prospects.  That said, let's have him get 5 or 6 starts in a row, at shortstop and see what he can do.

Mateo can still be a late inning defensive replacement or pinch runner but it's well past time to have him sit for a week or so.

Poor guy, I'd let him play on his birthday, and then think about playing Ortiz tomorrow. 

 

I guess benching him on his birthday wouldn't be as bad as the guy who got DFA'd on the day his Dad was throwing out the first pitch, but give the poor guy a pass for one more day.

Bench Mateo, Bench Frazier, put Gunnar at SS, get Ortiz in there.  Tony to DH, Cowser to RF.  

 

Other than that it's a good lineup

The Orioles’ official city connect jerseys they’re wearing tonight have been altered. The cuff of the sleeve used to have the color on the inside and needed to be rolled up to show it. Now the cuff of the sleeve has color on the outside and none on the inside — no roll necessary

Rather have Mateo for his speed and defense in the lineup and Ortiz at 2B. Frazier benched.

Frazier's almost Mateo bad offensively over the past month.

Met Mounty’s father today on a golf course in Parrish FL, where I live. He called out “nice hat” for my O’s hat. We got to talking and he told he about being Ryan’s dad and how he is still dealing with the effects of Vertigo and won’t risk it by getting back into a major league batter’s box until he no longer feels dizzy after a swing. Great guy!
