I wish we would allow a reliever to stay in the game, when they are doing well. I do not like the one inning at a time, and I suspect that is an organization thing.
I had no problem, leaving Coulombe in to face the lefty last night.
Bottom line, it is working.
What you're hoping for is old school baseball. It doesn't exist anymore unless at some point in the future, some manager comes along and breaks up the status quo and others follow. Baseball is cyclic so there is some hope I guess. I'm sure Jim Palmer just shakes his head watching how pitching is structured and handled today.
