No, I understand that even the best player is going to have a learning curve at the big league level but it looks like he doesn't have the arm to get the ball to the 1st baseman's gloves. Perhaps it is simply a mechanical thing that can be corrected but so far, I'm not seeing it.

GRod is lucky to be pitching against the worse offense in the AL. A good hitting team would def be taking advantage of his sloppiness!

I think Gunnars arm strength is fine. Its certainly not special but those last two I think he didnt let it loose for whatever reason. Trying to aim it a bit

It's not arm strength.  He's got a strong arm.  Some times rushed mechanics.

Clearly? Not really. I saw where the 3rd pitch perhaps scrapped the black. That 2nd pitch though was at least an inch above the lower-mid section of the zone.

Annoying we gave up Rodriguez for about 25 innings from Andrew Miller.

I mean it brings roboumps closer and closer to the show. So ultimately its a good thing. All that said, its really hard calling this caliber of stuff with really no margin of error. We are talking 6 inches being a really egregious miss. 6 inches on shit that fast and moving that much.

Maybe I got spoiled by Brooks and Machado.

He has plenty of arm, just needs to work on timing and accuracy from that spot on the field. You can tell he is much more comfortable at SS.

For the record, if you’re down 3 runs in a perfect game, then yeah, bunt one of your fastest guys to get into the pitcher’s head. But when one swing of the bat gives you a lead in a 0-0 game? I don’t like bunting an average speed guy. At all.

They knew he was gonna be the primary 3b this year. Why is he not better prepared to play that position. Specifically to field the types of balls he sees over there. Thats on him and its on the coaches.

Im not really asking you Bob. I agree with your assesment. I hate the preparedness of some of these guys. And I do believe thats part of it. Gunnar could be in a better place at 3b right now. He might have to work hard to be a league avg 3b defensively but he could and should be closer to that than he is right now.
