Theyre one of the worst defenses in baseball. Not opinion anymore. Its facts. While still a small same size its not insignificant
They apparently started taking outfield practice or something

29th for Inf
26th for OF
So I guess maybe the practice has worked. Not last. Not even 2nd or 3rd worst. Only 5th worst!!! Yah!!

It was probably a good thing they didn't fire Hyde after the second game of the season. That might have been a teensy bit premature.
You can bust his balls about maybe being hyperbolic on Hyde; but he was the most optimistic of all of us about the product the O's would put on the field... and so far's he right on that.

I have seen almost zero evidence that the O's are winning having anything to do with the managerial decisions of Hyde. Like it usually is in sports, when a team is doing well its the players and when they aren't its the manager. The reality is probably much more on the players performance than the managers ability.
Where the manager does have some impact are his in game decisions in later stages of a game. Have not seen much indication that Hyde is a top game manager. But I have seen things that make me question him.

Hyperbolic in that I know hes not gonna be fired nor is it realistic to get the manager you want to replace him right now anyway. I do think he overmanages and underprepares. Time will tell if its a fatal flaw or if the talent will overcome it.

Hyde absolutely is not a good manager.
Which is why he was voted mlb manager of the year for 2022

Do we need to go through all the guys whove won some kind of award at some point and sucked. I mean wasnt it Sporting News Manager of the year?? Regardless, I know it wasnt the official BBWOA MLB official award. BSL big enough now. Could give out awards. BSL is as big as The Sporting News is at this point.
