C'mon. Adley isn't gonna steal a bunch of bases, but for a catcher he moves pretty well. Does this guy just assume every Orioles catcher is a Matt Wieters clone?

He had a higher sprint speed last year than Vavra, Odor, Stowers, Urias, Santander, among others. 46th percentile. That's fine. He's a little slower this year but samples are small.

I guess he was just trying to be cute in the context of the other guys who run better, but last year, Adley was above average as a runner.  Not above average for a catcher, above League average.  Amongst 85 catchers captured by Baseball Savant, Adley was 14th and again, above League average.

 

He shouldn't be stealing bases and he actually needs to protect his aggressiveness on the bases a little and not wind up in the awkward slides he had on opening day.
