That’s a fantastic play design by Willard out of that timeout. Everyone is expecting a Young isolation, get Reese rolling to the basket on a pass from Carey.

And Maryland has been as bad as they have been terrific. That’s more to do with it. It isn’t hard to defend the 3 point line. It’s literally all they are capable of, and they let them claw back in it with wide open look after wide open look, created by unnecessary double teams. Just terrible. Meltdown to the nth degree.

That’s a bad, bad loss. Defensive collapse allowed Penn State to come all the way back, and almost no supporting cast for Young. Hart and Scott were awful as they’ve been for most of conference play, and Reese disappeared after the first few minutes.

And they didn’t just not defend the three-point line, how many times did we see Maryland defenders fall asleep and allow wide open cuts to the basket or leave guys all alone under the rim? No energy defensively whatsoever, which is strange considering they’ve been good about that all year.

Scott and Hart a combined 1 for 10... including 1 of 8 from 3.
Those guys really should know by now that they need to be going to the basket.
Young led MD with 8 rebounds.
Martinez had 11 off the bench... all of MD's bench points.
Carey was 5 of 11, but just 1 of 4 from 3.
