Washington leading Atlanta 24-16...  Atlanta goes for 2, with 12:38 and doesn't get it. 

I don't get the point of going for 2 there.   You kick the xp, and if you score again.... you aren't in position where you have to have the 2 point conversion. Now you are. 

Now you can argue that if you got the points there... that you wouldn't need a TD to tie... you could get 2 FG's...  but I think this was a mistake.

If folks are watching NFL RedZone this afternoon... one thing that seems very obvious to me is that there is a LOT of really, really BAD play at the QB position all across the league. Geno Smith has looked clueless and atrocious. Like frickin horrible. And he almost won if he could have lucked in to one more completion.

Defenseless receiver call against SF was what's wrong with the call today. DB has a job to do, the receiver is coming at him, goes up and then comes down either with or without the ball. This happens in the amount of time it takes me to type a letter or maybe two, and if the WR lowers his head (which human nature tends to make us do) it's a crap shoot for the DB. And in this case the DB basically just braces himself with a shoulder, didn't try to run through him, etc.

I know that being in separate conferences they don't play often, and the Jets have a mostly miserable history, but for as long as the two franchises have existed it seems crazy today was the first time the Jets have ever beaten the Eagles.

 

And that sound you hear is what's left of the '72 Dolphins popping the champagne corks.

Awesome. Memo will go out for the refs to tilt their calls even more in the offense's favor. No, let the WRs really push off and flags anytime the DB breaths on the WR. Oh, and youre fired if you call an offensive holding. God forbid there is no offense in a football game

 Yeah, the Jets have stunk for well, mostly ever since Namath, other than the odd 1-2 year run here & there.  The Eagles have been consistently very good since Vermeil in the late 70's, so can see it happening, but yes, that did initially catch me off-guard with "really!?"
