I'm not sure Geronimo profiles in the Emilien role. He's a little smaller and less-seasoned, and looks like a better fit on the wing than the interior. Pierce is just too hard to get a read on from HS film. He could be a nice find. He could also be Will Bowers.
Agree they shouldn't be after someone who is nothing more than a big body, especially since there doesn't appear to be room for anyone else right now. But if you can land a big guy who you are confident can give you quality minutes behind Reese, then take him and find a way to make it work with the scholarship limit.

Ian Martinez to the portal. Guess that explains how they would have fit Dickinson.

Ugh, that sucks.
Was the 2nd best perimeter defender, and brought real athleticism. He was in line for even more minutes.

He has some bounce. I think he can shoot a bit.Don't see much in Batchelor.
He seemed to only look to hoist 3s when he entered games though, and seemed a little raw. Can see him be becoming a rotation piece, but yeah...doesn't seem like a future starter.

As the dust has settled a bit on Dickinson, it turns out they only came up with about $650K for him. Apparently the whole $2M story started with Keith Cavanaugh, which I didn’t realize at the time. I saw a few other reporters seemingly corroborate it, which we now know is false.I’m just encouraged that MD apparently came up with $2M to try and get him. If that sort of cash is available for other players, they should be able to compete for talent.
Seriously y’all, never listen to Cavanaugh. Not sure how he gets away with just making stuff up and claiming it’s reporting but he does it all the time lol

Well that sucks - both that they could only scrape together $650k and that actual media sources took KC seriously and ran with it. Still, with another scholarship now open they ought to have some funds to toss at a nice backup for Reese.

Probably figured his playing time would be limited with the talented freshman coming in and Young's return.

That's a bummer, thought that he was gonna be a quality starter or big-minute 6th man this coming season.
Though if Willard is telling him he's still gonna be fighting for time, that must mean he has a lot of confidence in the incoming guards.

Ian has to sit out a year, since this is transfer #2. It doesn't seem to make sense but it does open up a scholarship for a big.

He's probably graduating. Grad transfers can still play immediately, even if they used their one transfer as an undergrad.

So with that, the transfer portal has closed until next March. Maryland had 5 players leave the program (Cornish, Dziuba, Hart, Martinez, and Revaz), and have added 2 transfers so far with 1 scholarship still remaining.

Wasted all that time on Dickinson.
What did they specifically miss out on during their recruitment of Dickinson?
