Would love Nimmala but Ill be surprised if he gets to 17.
Same, that’s the dream scenario.

Whitley has been bad in AAA but was a top 10 overall prospect at one time. Would take a guy who got up to top 10 overall. Just you know sell him after AA. Lol.Hope they stick to bat. The last time Elias picked #17 overall, he selected Forrest Whitley.

Also, just so we’re clear, I have clue about draft stuff.

Whitley has never pitched in the big leagues. Doesn’t look like he will. Stuck at Triple A since 2019, and a 7 ERA last year and 5.70 this year. He has had a host of injuries of course.
Funny thing was when Houston was looking for pitching they wouldn't include him. Now likely no one wants him.

A few guys I'd love to see us select at some point in the draft:
In the first round I'm pulling for SS Arjun Nimmala and1B/P Bryce Eldridge. Afterwards, I hope we grab these guys:
LHP Alex Clemmey
LHP Paul Wilson
1B Brock Vradenburg
RHP Will Sanders
LHP Shane Sullivan
1B George Wolkow
LHP Grayson Hitt

Have they drafted a natural 1B like...ever...in the Elias era? Feel like their preferred plan is to take guys who aren't gonna be that defensively limited, which is fine.

Not that I recall. It would be out of the ordinary, certainly. Eldridge also profiles well in RF. I get the preference for taking the more important defensive positions, but having a big power bat with solid OBP skills, and solid-strong defensive at 1B is also a great player to have. We don't have one currently that meets those criteria, but I still think Mayo could be that guy.

CBS has them taking a high school pitcher, which would be pretty shocking

Nimmala seems to be falling in mocks. But sounds like Os are serious about going with a prep player.

I don't have any prediction and also don't believe any rumors, this FO doesn't leak. And it was obvious to everyone the O's were going with an under slot college bat last year.
