One Baltimore teams arrow is pointing up and the other down. Like longterm. Next 5 years

Been a long time, but the Orioles may be the best run team in Baltimore, finally.

Awesome. Win number 82 and a series win in a tough playoff environment. Love it.

Now it's about going from this to a legitimate Championship contender in 2023.

It's on ownership to commit the money.

Beyond that, it's on Elias to pass a test that he has yet to even attempt, which is to make wise moves while actually trying to win.

He has a lot of talent and presumably payroll flexibility to work with, but a lot of tough decisions as well.

It will be interesting to see - beyond any FA moves he makes, or is allowed to make - how his much questioned trades of Trey and Lopez pan out over the next 2-3 years.

Lopez is turning into a pumpkin and Trey is what he is. A solid player, but likely wasn't going to be brought back next year anyways and we get two lottery tickets. We won't regret either trade.

McDermott settled down and Johnson if he recovers well as a lot of upside. Trey trade os a win already IMO. Hes a part time player in Hou

It was egregiously wrong to make those trades and nothing that happens will change that. Book closed, looking forward to the off-season. We’ll see what Elias means by “liftoff from here”. I’m very much still in believe it when I see it mode. I also think iff they are going to remain a limited budget, they should keep Grayson, Gunnar and Adley home as long as possible rather than sign unmotivated hundred millionaires.

Im not gonna change your mind and thats fine but I really believe they knew something about Lopez. Maybe it was just the way he was trending. His numbers even beyond ERA have been really bad with Minn. H/9 way up. K/9 down significantly. BB rate way up.

If you want to buy into the dude garbage that the team chemistry and crap like that is the reason he started pitching poorly be my guest. Or you know you can believe he came back towards what he has always been as a MLB pitcher.

When Lopez started to struggle, I think we were beginning to see why he could never put it together as a starter. Great stuff, great movement on his pitches, but not particularly great command at times. His pitches were beginning to leak back out over the plate as he went on, and suddenly he was very hittable. You can hide those shortcomings for a time as a short reliever because the exposure is limited, but eventually they'll start to show. And if you're a closer, they happen at the worst possible time.

I'm not rooting for Lopez to implode just to justify the trade. He seems like a genuinely good guy and I wish him well. But I also think the Orioles saw that his value was never going to be higher than it was when they traded him.

Exactly. I wish him the best and despite agreeing that his value will likely never be higher I wasnt and am still not a big fan of the return

Awesome to have a winning season after being projected to be the worst team in the league and by quite a lot. Hopefully this can be built on these next few years.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?
