Kremer does not have good stuff but he battling.

The Orioles have been lifeless tonight.

Damn. SO many platoon haters. Guess none of you were Earl fans
The is just one small difference. Earl was platooning guys who could actually hit. When you trot out a lineup of Aguilar .231, Nevin .200 , Mateo .220, and Chirinos .176 (everyone of them with an OPS less than .700) you are not fielding a ML team.

You would bench Babe Ruth if a lefty was on the mound.

Our power hitting catcher makes it 3-1. Not Adley…. Robbie.

Everyone saw this offensive performance coming. Everyone but whoever made the lineup tonight.

The Orioles are limping to the finish. It is a shame but lets get a few more wins.\ Chevrolet
At times it feels like we are giving away a few games.

I have nothing against platoons, but they need to be used judiciously. I'm not aware of Earl benching his best players en masse just because he's going against a mediocre lefty. He used batter-vs-pitcher record as much as handedness (other than the famous platoon). If Hyde was platooning Hays I don't think people would be complaining. But he's platooning Mullins and sometimes Rutschman and Henderson and Stowers and replacing them mostly with guys that aren't particularly better against LHP than they are. Adley's gotta sit sometimes, everyone does, so go ahead and line up rest days with less than ideal matchups. But Hyde has been using something very close to a strict platoon for several weeks now with Mullins. That's the big complaint from me. I'm aware of his stats versus lefties this year, but I'm also aware of what he did last season and what the guys that are replacing him in the lineup have done. Give me Mullins.

All that said...McKenna, Chirinos, Aguilar, and Nevin had some of the better performances last night compared to the rest of the guys. The lineup wasn't the reason the offense sucked last night. Strongly dislike the approach in general, I think its putting the team in a worse position than a more normal lineup would be, but it worked fine last night. Bad decisions don't always have bad results, and vice versa.

The fill ins more than did their part. and both Kremer and Akin held the Red Sox in check, we just did not hit enough.
I actually see the reason for sitting Adley. He had caught the two extremely long games the previous nights, so I knew he was not catching. He has struggled a little from the right side, so giving him the night off was not totally without reason.
Henderson was a numbers thing. They are not going to let him go past 130 AB's, nor should they.
Mullins, bothered me. He is swinging the bat well and he is a huge piece defensively. McKenna did well so it worked out.

The rookie status thing with Gunnar is stupid. Its fine now that things are over, but it was dumb and absolutely hurt our chances of making the playoffs to delay calling him up when he could've been helping sooner. O's got a 635 OPS, 275 wOBA, 78 wRC+ from 3B in August. How many more runs do we score if that's Gunnar there for the whole month? How many more games do we win?

They'll probably score nine runs with this lineup.
I off by a bit with this prediction.
