It's an ok time and situation for a gamble from Vavra but seems like a bad judgement to think he had any chance of beating that throw to 2nd.

Reed’s looked pretty solid so far. Nice pickup. The BP needs all the help it can get from an innings mitigation standpoint.

Post in the games watching thread — might be time to focus on Tampa. They play three with Texas but after that their schedule is rough: Astros, Jays, at Guardians, at Astros, at Red Sox.

Mathematically speaking, the odds have to be significantly, if not exponentially higher of the O’s making the playoffs with the Rays as the 5 seed rather than the Jays.
But yeah this is getting weird. Jays look like the team we thought they’d be entering the season, finally, and the Rays are in a bit of a slump and still dealing with significant injuries.

Rays have the tiebreaker, so add a game.
That 3 game game deficit sounds enticing.
I'm down with passing both, but I think the real shot is based on handing out some losses to the Jays that cover the gap.
