Excellent as always Bob. You read that and its hard to fathom wanting to keep Hays next year.

Mullins leads the team with a .260 average. That's pretty sad.

True, but it is a baseball epidemic. Averages are down everywhere.

League average is 243.

Only 72 guys (min 400 PA, 157 total) in the league have an average over 260.

Still, agree that its pretty disappointing to not have someone hitting better than that.  As a team the O's are 21st in AVG.  Offense has certainly been the weak link of the team.  I don't think its disappointed compared to preseason expectations, perhaps even have slightly exceeded overall expectations at 18th in runs scored.  But the pitching staff has exceeded its low expectations by so much more that the offense has been the limiting factor for how good the team can be overall.

Good post.   I I think the lack of offense league wide will bring rule changes.  Probably starting with the shift.

I think a lot of us. figured offense was going to be a problem for the Orioles, and it has been.  I think if we had another hitter or two, we would be in the playoffs.
