Stop the bleeding -- heat the bats up -- at least win the series. Get this one tonight.

Hyde is trying to get the left - right thing going.
Mountcastle has had good at bats the last few games and Hayes crushed 2 balls yesterday, so maybe there is life.

Between the 2 of them who do you think is more likely to get it going?

Was there yesterday, and the energy just didn't feel right except during the 8th and 9th. Going again tomorrow and hoping to feel a renewal of hope.

Hitters who widen their strike zones are more prone to prolonged slumps. I'm not sure if either Hays or Mountcastle will ever be anything different than what they are now. On a good lineup, such slumps are somewhat easier to overcome, but when you have an offense with an OPS that hovers around .700, it creates huge holes. It's never a good idea to rely on hitters who have such glaring flaws.
I guess the silver lining is that the offensive talent in the minors is, in a number of cases, better than what we currently have. One thing both Hays and Mountcastle need to be reminded of is that their spots on next year's roster are not simply a given. I know both have "potential," but potential is a French word meaning "Not worth a crap."

Nice job by Lyles leaving Pham on 3rd.
Early hits and runs would be good.
