I am guessing the Orioles are not to concerned about the glove.  It will be interesting to see how the positions play out.  The more I watch Gunnar the more I think he is a shortstop.  That is a real nice problem to have.

It's not unusual for a 19 year old's bat to be more advanced than his defense. Of course, he'll be 20 in three months. 

 

For 20 year olds, if the defensive profile doesn't catch up, he might get DFA'd.

Nice that Jackson will have pretty much a month at AAA this year. Set him up nicely for ST.

My guess is unless he hits a snag, and assuming he works on his SS play this offseason, he'll head north with the club out of Spring Training. Not too far out on a limb 'hot take': You might see a package centered around Joey Ortiz moved for a young SP this winter.

I think he’ll stay down for the first three weeks or whatever it is to delay his service clock but he’ll be up ASAP assuming he’s healthy and raking.

And then he’ll win RoY and get the full year anyway. This is why I think he has a great chance to make the team out of spring.

Btw, MLB.TV are broadcasting the Tides' game tonight as it's Jackson Holliday's debut at SS.

He went 1-4 with a strikeout, a double and a run scored. He also booted both balls hit his way at SS.
