Wait, why’d they take out Wells after 63 pitches? Was pitching a gem.
Were planning on it being a very short night with him. Said he threw too many pitches against Washington.

I think that only happens if he is put in the rotation.
I have seen you call him a pumpkin a few times, and I have been critical of him in the past because he always seemed to have one 30 pitch inning in every appearance, but he seems more direct to the plate and is shown terrific control this year. Maybe if he goes back into the rotation, we will see him revert but right now he has been great.

Akin taking the last 3.1 innings last night, gives the Orioles a better chance of winning the next 2 games. The BP will be a lot fresher and able to cover innings in the Voth game (essentially another BP game).
