I like both movies. While it has some cheese, the original has a more compelling character-driven story. The sequel has higher production values and is a lot of fun.
I still don't think Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly had any chemistry.

It felt like they thought he should have a lady to pursue, so they wrote that in.
