I think Mateo's is slumping so they let him reset and get a day ir two off.
I am not sure why they just did not let Rom stay through yesterday. It seems like they wasted one of Vespi's call ups.

Guess Rom was up incase one of the starters got bombarded and a long man was needed.
Yup, exactly.

Vespi was sent back down for Perez.
It is a shame because Vespi has done a nice job, including last night. The Orioles are trying to not DFA anyone. Likely Mateo. I am not sure how long they can only carry 12 pitchers.

Bring Vespi back up and move somebody out....Perez?
Perez had two decent outings then fell right back in the crapper Tuesday night.

Elias has an irrational fear of DFA'ing guys who are out of options. It's why Mateo and Perez have managed to stay on the roster so long. I don't see him swaying from it until the deadline has passed and he knows he can't move them for any value.

I think you are spot on. His fear of DFA'ing guys is how you keep a weaker roster than you should have.

He is certainly a hoarder of resources. To this point, it has served us well. But all of them are expiring assets to varying degrees. It'll be interesting to see how their approach to asset management evolves moving forward.
