Rougned Odor

Somehow Odor is younger than DJ Stewart.

.278/.278/.583 in his last 10 games, a .861 OPS with zero walks seems pretty solid

Odor has been better than I thought. He is a big reason why the Orioles lead baseball in turning DP's. He also seems to be one of the team leaders.

He's been awesome, and what makes it all that much better is everytime he turns a DP, I just imagine him putting Jose Bautista in his place a few years back.

I certainly like the dude and aspects of his game, but let's not pretend like an 88 OPS+ is awesome.

He seems to fit the "great clubhouse guy" description which a young team needs.

He's fine....for now. But don't see him being a part of the team moving forward.

Would be surprised if he's here all year, but ride the hot hand.

The last play of the game tonight he grounded to 2B and ran three quarters speed out of the gate and then slowed down when the inevitable consumed him.
Of course, Lowe threw wide and pulled Paredes off the bag at 1B. Had Odor ran it out of the box, chances are he might’ve been safe, at which point it’d have been 6-5 Rays, with Urias up next.
He’s got to be called out on that.

Those are the little mistakes that can make a difference between an ok team and a really good one. Good teams force the other team into mistakes not let them off the hook when they do make one.

I noticed the same thing, but I thought he was going to be out no matter what.
Who knows if Hyde talked to him after the game. Rarely is that type of conversation made public.

In fairness the Orioles pushed the action all last night. They took the extra base at least 4 times.
The mistake that Odor made that bothered me is when he tried to go first to third on a groundout. He made the third out at 3rd base, which is never good.

I dunno. Paredes came a full step off the bag. And a trotting Odor got to within ten feet of the bag when Paredes is turned around and has to get back to the bag. If he was running full tilt out of the box I think he beats Parades to the bag. Regardless, it’s a poor effort from a pretty meh ballplayer. I mean, I get that Vavra’s wife is ready to give birth so perhaps that’s why he’s not in the lineup despite being called up 3 days ago, but man alive they need to move on from Odor.

That had me shaking my head too.

Fair enough. I think Hyde "likes his guys", and Odor is one of his guys. With Vavra''s wife 35 weeks pregnant, why did they bother to call him up, to watch the games.

Good point re: his guys. Maybe it’s because Vavra’s wife is going to have the baby at UMMS or Hopkins? Could be that simple…

Report was she's only 35 or 36 weeks pregnant. And she was allowed to travel by her doctors. Its not panda watch time, yet.

Maybe that is it. It is strange though.

I guess you could argue that with roster expanding in 10 days he could stick around. But I have seen enough after last night. I really like the guy as an Oriole. But as a player on a team in playoff contention you just can't keep running him out there. We have better options. Use them.
