Orioles HOF induction tonight.

Fun memories of Devo... was there for the catch...maybe still the best catch in OPACY history.

One of the best catches I have ever seen.  I remember when Carter hit the ball, I thought it was long gone.  We had season tickets in section 11, and I remember watching Devo take off, from right center.  I know they measure sprint speed now.  I wonder how fast Devo was on that one.

I was at the game where he homered over the foul pole.

I have seen the replay of that shot a hundred times, and I am still not sure whether it was fair or foul.  I think it may have passed through the pole.

The foul pole HR is one of my favorite O's memories. Watched that game on HTS, and then the next game was also a fair-or-foul, late-inning win with a hit up the first base line winning it for the Orioles.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I was there in person, my seats were under the deck on the 3rd base side, so my vantage point wasn't the best. I later spoke to someone else who was sitting in the LF bleachers and he said it did go through the pole, which means fair ball. For whatever it's worth, the 3B ump had no hesitation in signaling the HR (my eyes immediately focused on him when I realized how close that call would be).

The Angels manager spent several minutes out there arguing....it was kind of funny to watch him having a fit while the grounds crew tried to work around him. Maybe that game was the impetus for the decision to put up mesh wiring on the pole so a ball couldn't go through anymore.

My favorite player as a kid. Great induction.
