He better get in the top 30 he wants to play when he gets here.

Promoted.
Good for him. If he does well while Mateo is down, he may stick at the expense of Urias.

Over 800 AAA at bats. He earned the call.

While I’m sure he plays 2B for now, wonder if he shifts to the OF when Mateo comes back, assuming he’s acclimating well of course.

I'm happy for him.... but even with Holliday going 2 for his last 23, Holliday still has a higher OPS (.923, 159 abs) than Norby (.884, 206 abs).
Guess the most important thing here is that Norby has been better lately, and again Holliday has been struggling lately.
Also, presumably, the O's are still working with Holliday on whatever mechanical change they wanted.

Yeah you could possibly argue someone like Holliday was rushed, a man with 198 games as a Norfolk Tide sure as hell is not someone who was rushed though lol

I think it is more about Norby hitting right handed. I don't think they wanted another left handed bat.

They're also less concerned with Norby getting regular playing time I'd imagine, he's def in the Stowers zone where they don't view him as important to need to only get called up if he's starting 6x a week

The decision here will be Westburg at 3rd, Norby at 2nd, or Westburg at 2nd, and Urias at 3rd.
I do agree that Norby is not a guy that 'has' to play and think that is a good point. Maybe Hyde decides to go with Urias and his defense as the starter... but won't be surprised if they feel the lineup needs Norby's extra pop.

I guess Norby's defensive reputation isn't very good, but the fielding stats really don't like Urias either besides 2022. Maybe the GG was kinda a fluke thing, it was under 100 games at 3B.

I don't pay attention to fielding stats that much, but Urias playing time has been so sporadic, I think they are even less informative than usual.

His defense has been something that Hyde has continued to mention... maybe Manager speak?
His UZR / 150 was positive last year, DRS neutral and obviously his OAA was way negative.
This year his UZR / 150 is positive, DRS is positive, and OAA is again negative.

Yeah, it's annoying when the metrics don't agree, a lot easier to draw conclusions when they do. I feel like the one that uses statcast data, OAA, should be more reliable but I have no idea really. It at least gives me pause. I also agree with Mike that sporadic playing time doesn't help.
