They won with him, and other backups in week 17 last year when the Steelers still had playoff opportunity. But I don’t know. I see an L this time around if it comes down RG3. Sounds like they are downplaying the injury to Lamar and playing it safe by keeping him out. Seems like the smart decision and RG3 gets the reps in this week to tune up that he wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

yeah I know they won last year week 17 but I went into that game expecting to lose.

I wouldn’t expect an RG3 led team to win any games in the NFL although he could probably go 6-10 or thereabouts if he started a full season.

I do believe we need a better backup QB

What difference would it make? They aren't winning without Lamar.

Because if Lamar misses 4 games RGIII isn’t going 3-1 or even 2-2.

That could be the difference between a bye or a division title or missing playoffs all together.

It depends on who we played. 2-2 certainly in play with RG3

Ya'll are being way too hard on RGIII. If he got consistent reps I think he'd be fine.

That, and I think people are overrating the backup QB skillset and market. Not sure why all the hate on RG3 though, he's been real solid and a great professional by all accounts since coming here.

He hasn't been good since his rookie year even when he got consistent reps. I think he's washed and think we could do better at BUQB but I guess it's low on their list of priorities.

In '18, he had 6 passing attempts for the year.

In '19, he had passing attempts in 6 games. In 5 of those games, he had 6 or less attempts. Basically running a very vanilla, run the clock out offense. He did have 21 attempts vs. Pittsburgh, and was meh.  (Other starters also out though.)

Have we seen enough to have much of an opinion either way?

My take is the Ravens see enough in practice to believe in his ability to run the offense short-term if needed.

I'm glad Jackson is feeling better.  Maybe he goes and lights it up today, and that would be great.  To see the offense really come together, and feel like you have some momentum coming out of today.

I still go into this morning feeling I'd rather go with RG3 today, and try and get Jackson fully right health wise... while acknowledging that if RG3 was starting, it would making losing today plausible.

Ravens have their top 4 DL active for the first time (also the bottom 2 inactive) . I'm excited to see that group today.

Interesting to see Mekari starting at RG. I would have thought Fluker or Powers would be the next man up there, but Mekari has been the 6th OL they bring in in jumbo so maybe he is their best option.

Poor Justice Hill. I thougt he played well on ST last week.

Also, surprised to see Gilchrist and Dorsey both being active this week. I wonder if there are some guys banged up a bit more than we know back there. Specifically, Smith.

Bengals have some talent, division game, no fans, some injury concerns...  all reasons why it's possible to be surprised...  but the Ravens will have to cough the ball up multiple times and just be totally disinterested to lose.

Haven't really seen that with Jackson. He looks to strike every series, and I think one of real underrated aspects of last year was how focused the team was week-to-week.

38-17 Ravens.

Broadcast off to a good start as Gumble calls this a NFC North matchup.
