Scott and Wiggins listed 73 and 80 respectively.  Neither is ready for the NBA and likely neither will get drafted, IMO.

I think Wiggins could go to individual workouts and camps and move up.  But it would be a roll of the dice for sure, and definitely no sure thing.  Certainly can leave now and get paid somewhere, but if he wants a better path to the league... come back and dominate his Senior year, even if he will be a year older.

I think the allure of playing overseas has just gotten too good.  You can leave now, start getting paid, not have to go to class anymore and get to live in another country if that's of interest to you.

 

Do agree that Wiggins has the skill set if he makes improvements to be able to dominate his senior year and get a better look at the NBA, but you just don't see many guys doing that anymore.

I think the allure of getting an immediate pay day, may cost some of these kids money.  I also think agents get in some of these kids ears and entice them to make the leap, even though they know it may not be in their best interests.

I think another year in NCAA being the only road, or even the best road, to the NBA for borderline guys might be outdated thinking. I also think it would be a glorious lifestyle to make 6 figures playing basketball overseas.

Agreed on highlighting Wiggins. 17.2 ppg on 46.9% in his last six games compared to 11.4 ppg on 35.1% his five games before that

A very good analysis of Maryland in 2021.

 

A few thoughts.

Like you, I still have ussues with the style of play, that Turgeon uses, but he gets high grades for this season.  He has adjusted, both offensively and defensively and it is working.  I had come to the idea that Maryland was not going to make the tourney, but they have battled their way in, barring a total collapse in the next 3 games.

Ayala  IMO, is the star of this season, but the core of Morsell, Wiggins, Scott have all been very good.

 

Morsell is the heart and soul of the team.  Watching him take on guys, bigger and stronger than him is fun to watch.
