Drew has the look that no coach wants to have. His team does not have it tonight.
Or worse, the other team is better

See they also didnt lose til late in the year.
Baylor is just legit. They finally put it all together. They weren't even quite this good before their covid pause. This is the complete version of their team and they are dominant.

Until last night, teams this season that shot 55% or better, committed 10 or less TOs, and held their opponent to 7 or less 3 pointers made, went 98-1.
UCLA did this to Gonzaga.
98-2.
If Gonzaga had the dress rehearsal vs Houston, and Baylor had to fend off UCLA the way they played against Gonzaga? I think tonight’s outcome would’ve been wholly different.
But I’ve no skin in this game, so I’m not making any excuses. It’s just the way the cards were dealt.

Gonzaga once again becomes the runner-up. This will take months for Coach Few to get over. Brutal.

Serious question. Who's the last team to go (generally) untested in conference play and still win the national championship? Like, has it happened in our adult lives? Zags, Butler, Memphis have all come close but none of them got there.

UNLV is the last team not from a major conference, don't know if they played a strong OOC slate or not.

UNLV is the last team not from a major conference, don't know if they played a strong OOC slate or not.
According to wiki...
That team opened with a win against Loyola-Marymount. They also played them again in the elite 8 when LM finished the season ranked #21.
Other notable games:
Cal (W)
Kansas (L)
#12 Oklahoma (L)
#16 Iowa (W)
#11 Arkansas (W)
#16 LSU (L)
N.C. State (W)
#20 Arizona (W)
#16 Louisville (W)
New Mexico State in conference also finish the season ranked #24. They split the season series with them.
Gonzaga played 4 ranked games OOC, had Baylor scheduled but was canceled. Could argue UNLV had a little tougher slate, but not by much. If that Baylor game in December isn't cancelled it's likely tilted in the Zags favor if you add more weight to #1/#2 Baylor, #5/#6 Kansas, #3 Iowa who are higher than anyone UNLV played.
