Two Rule 5 guys I didn't mention when talking about possible SS options from outside the organization

- Estuery Ruiz from San Diego. 83 stolen bases over the last 2 seasons and plenty of power to tap into. But still raw at the plate and questions about his defense at 2B, likely an OF.

- Kevin Smith- Top 30 guy out of Toronto. Really good numbers in lower minors, but struggled a bit in AA. Hit .209 with 19 HR/22 2B. A few reports suggest some easy fixes could fix those AA numbers, but other reports aren't as high. Opinion seems really mixed.

I don't think they go the Rule 5 route here with so many in-house options being more polished options, but something to ponder.

Os system is rapidly improving under Elias. A lot of names to keep track of and these guys are on top of it. Give them a listen.

I like the way you guys handled how your opinions differ on the players. There's common ground on the skills but the projections vary.

The cluster of lefties intrigues me. Not sure if it's an outdated perspective but the passable velocity, good command lefties always seemed to have a lower bust potential. The crafty lefty who can get outs finds a role on an MLB team more easily than a comparable righty. Seems like a lot of hitters' splits are bad against lefties and some teams have a shortage of them on the 40.

Is that fair and is there any data that supports or refutes it?

Anecdotally that feels right but I’d be interested in seeing the data on that. There are some successful low velocity, great command righties out there (Kyle Hendricks, Zach Davies) but seems like in general they have to have a funky delivery (Darren O’Day) to make it without touching the mid-90’s.

Hey, you know I'm always looking for an edge. If there's merit to it, carry 6 lefties on your staff and beat the teams who can't hit them. Over simplified but you get the point.

Zach, Nick, and Bob discuss the Orioles prospects that just missed their top 30 list, some other notable prospects to watch, and talk about how the Freddy Galvis signing impacts things from a prospect perspective.

If the three-batter minimum sticks, I wonder it will increase the value of left-handed relievers that have good splits against hitters on both sides of the plate. Paul Fry was a good example of this last year, and he might be a good projection for some of the low ceiling, high floor lefties on our list. It's also a bonus if these relievers can work on short rest.

Zach, Nick, and Bob talk about the players the Orioles are bringing in on minor league contracts for the 2021 season and then talk to one of them, RHP Spenser Watkins, to get a different perspective on the process. We get to know who Watkins is as a pitcher, what keeps him pushing towards the big leagues, why he joined the Orioles, flower socks, training with Rio Ruiz and which current Orioles prospect has given him the most trouble.

Zach, Nick, and Bob preview the college baseball season by discussing the guys who are most likely to be selected by the Orioles with the 5th pick in the draft. They also run down the prospects to keep an eye on early in spring training to see if they have a shot to make the team.

Appears that the second half of the show has another audio file mixed in so this episode has been taken down until it can be fixed.
