Mcdonogh for some reason was ranked Number 1 in the country and is looking like they probably won’t make the playoffs. It’s CHC’s to lose, think it will come down to CHC and Gilman(even though they lost to Loyola).

Mcdonogh beat Culver academy, that's why they were ranked number one. It really shows you how competitive the MIAA is. BL lost their star attack man for the year with a back injury.  Keep an eye out for St.Marys as well.

One of the websites reported Gilman losing to Loyola, they haven’t played yet. Gilman is still the only team besides CHC that’s undefeated in league play. McDonogh lost another. They’re now 0-4 in the league. Talking about a serious fall from grace. I think they’re pretty much out of the playoffs already.

I watched the FCA MIAA Lacrosse Game of the Week this afternoon on MeTV channel 11.2.. St. Paul’s Crusaders led 13-9 late in the 4th Q but Gilman scored 2 goals to close within 13-11. Gilman got possession off the faceoff but fouled the SP goalie with under two minutes to disallow a late goal. SP’s scored with under a minute to extend their lead to 14-11 and held on to take down the reeling Greyhounds.

Yep, Gilman is definitely sputtering. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Looks like your boys will win it again this year. Worst thing about seeing CHC kill it this year, is the fact that one of my good friends and classmate at Gilman, son is their best player and only a ninth grader. Kid named Truitt Sunderland. Ridiculous that his dad didn’t send him to Gilman. His dad was a good lacrosse player during his time at Gilman, but not on the level of his son.

SMDH! I wouldn’t expect anything else from you, GA. Your Gilman friend’s son, Sunderland, is a very good player for a CHC freshman but is far from the best player on the team. SR A Jack Sawyer, JR M Cole Herbert, JR A Daniel Kelly & JR G Jackson Marshall are better players and play bigger roles for the Cardinals this season. I’m sure that CHC HC Bryan Kelly is happy to have Sunderland but he has plenty of other stars without Gilman ties.

Isn’t Truitt the leading scorer on the team this year? And he’s only a ninth grader. I was told by some people in the lacrosse world, that the two most talented players with the highest upside in the league, are both ninth graders. Truitt and BL’s Dominic Pietramala.

On another note, CHC is on my last nerves. Saw the baseball team beat Gilman 5-2 on a walk off grand slam!

I haven’t seen every game but Jack Sawyer is probably the Cardinals’ leading scorer. Upside doesn’t mean that Sunderland is the best just yet. I’ll get back to you on that.

GA, here’s CHC scoring leaders since CHC came back home from the Brine King of Spring Classic in North Carolina. I was unable to find scoring totals for the wins against Charlotte Country Day and Memphis University HS. Here are the unofficial totals:

SR A Jack Sawyer-21 goals, 15 assists
JR A Daniel Kelley-16 goals, 4 assists
FR A Truitt Sunderland-14 goals, 6 assists
JR M Cole Herbert-10 goals, 10 assists
SR M Grant Mitchell-13 goals, 5 assists

Sawyer is clearly the Hall’s best player. However, the Nike/US Lacrosse #1 Cardinals have multiple weapons and should win the the MIAA again.

Fair enough. Regardless, very impressive for a ninth grader. But man, CHC is absolutely loaded! The league is stacked this year, but don’t see anybody beating them.

Yeah, I just listed their top 5 scorers. Calvert Hall has a lot of players heading to D-1 power programs in every class.
