Sounds like there wasn't a path for much playing time for him.

Sounds like there wasn't a path for much playing time for him.
He was also the player who was hospitalized in February after falling ill during a workout. It didn't receive much attention, and apparently his blood sugar was low at the time. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but worth noting regardless.

The Diamondback: After finishing Maryland lacrosse career, Jared Bernhardt to pursue football eligibility
https://dbknews.com/...duate-transfer/
Bernhardt played as a triple-option quarterback at Lake Brantley High School in Florida, where he accounted for over 4,000 all-purpose yards and more than 30 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons.
If given the opportunity, Bernhardt does have the right to stay a Terp and play for Maryland football. As he explores his options and will take visits, the senior attackman remains honed in on the final season of his college lacrosse career.
Will be interesting to see if Locksley wants to bring him on board for his final year of eligibility, and if so what position he'd play.

Maryland's game against Penn State on 9/27 will be a lottery for student tickets. Over 13,000 students have requested tickets thus far, exceeding the student section's 10,000 seat capacity. The team announced they'll be adding temporary bleachers behind the student section to accommodate as many students as possible. They could also potentially move the band to field level to open up some more seats.
This will be just the second lottery game for the football program, with the only other occurring in 2007 against West Virginia.
EDIT: Damon Evans announces there were 14,500 student ticket requests (the most in program history). The temporary bleachers will add 1,000 seats.

Really need to beat Temple Saturday.... would get huge buildup for PSU if they do.

Wonder how sales of non-student tickets has gone for that game? I'd imagine the PSU crowd snatched up a bunch of them as soon as tickets went on sale. Between that and a full student section, at least there should be something close to a full house for the game, which will look/sound good on TV, even if as many as 1/3 or more are for the visitors.

OG Terrance Davis will be out 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain. Evan Gregory will likely take his place as the team's starting RG, though Austin Fontaine and Breyon Gaddy are also options there.

RB Jake Funk tore his left ACL during the Temple game and will miss the remainder of the season. It's the same ACL that he tore last year.
Huge blow for the team, as he was one of the most important members of Maryland's special teams units.

Via Instagram, RB Lorenzo Harrison III says he'll be out indefinitely due to knee surgery. After seeing how upset he was after going down during the Penn State game, it was easy to tell he knew exactly what he had done to his leg and that it would end his 2019 season. He joins RB Jake Funk as the second running back to go down with his second knee surgery in his Maryland career.
Also, WR DJ Turner has been suspended indefinitely for being charged with a DUI. He didn't play against Penn State.

All of a sudden, not getting a RB the last two recruiting cycles is looming large. Unless I've missed someone, this leaves just McFarland, Leake and Fleet-Davis as the only healthy scholarship RBs left. This is feeling like 2012 all over again.

Correction, Turner has not been officially suspended. But Locksley says he won't play against Rutgers.

Oh boy, the dreaded Players Only Meeting. That's usually the sure kiss of death for a season, and a sign that all is not well between players and coaches, which is surprising because at least publicly Locksley & Co. have yet to throw anyone under the bus as far as I've noticed. Though the return of the no hat/do-rag rule made me snicker.
