Errman:

More #Terps news today: former Clemson linebacker Shaq Smith appears to have joined the team. Former four-star from Baltimore likely would've started for the defending national champs. Should be eligible immediately as a grad transfer: 247sports.com/college/maryla… via @Josh_Stirn

Shaq Smith, assuming it becomes official, would be a huge addition for Maryland. Real speed at 245 pounds and was touted by Dabo Swinney as one of his best leaders.

The Terps have had excellent luck with transfer linebackers in the past few years with Tre Watson and Jefferson Ashiru. Smith is a massive addition, especially with the team moving to a linebacker-reliant 3-4 defense.

UMTerps: Terps Add Graduate Transfer Shaq Smith

https://umterps.com/...shaq-smith.aspx

A 6-foot-2, 250-pound linebacker, Smith led all players with seven tackles in Clemson's spring game. He played in all 15 games during the Tigers' undefeated 2018 season which ended with a National Championship. Smith finished the 2018 season with 17 tackles (9 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.

Before enrolling at Clemson, Smith was the No. 1 prospect in the state of Maryland and the No. 6 overall player in the nation according to Rivals.com. He was also rated the No. 1 outside linebacker in the nation by ESPN, played in the Under Armour All-American game, and was tabbed a second-team USA Today All-American. Smith spent his senior year of high school at IMG (Fla.) Academy. He previously attended St. Frances Academy (2014) and Calvert Hall (2012-13).

McLean has had quite the adventure, starting in High School, I believe he attended at least 3 different schools. UMD doesn’t have the best history with players from Quince Orchard, both Zach Kerr and Travis Hawkins transferred as well.

Disappointed about McLean. Interested to here what Spence and the Gaddy twins look like.

Wonder if they'll move Fontaine back to DL?

Virginia Tech transfer DB Sean Savoy has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA. The Terps are still waiting on the status of Ohio State transfer LB Keandre Jones.

Tough about Kasim.

He could never seem to get a break.  The 2 major Knee injuries, were devastating for him.

I hope he goes somewhere, gets healthy and does well.

Testudo Times: Maryland to cancel afternoon classes on day of Penn State football game

https://www.testudot...football-school

Along with non-essential employees, students with non-lab classes starting at or after noon on Sept. 27 will be given the afternoon and evening off in order to clear out campus as much as possible.

The athletics department also created a webpage dedicated to preparing fans for this event, which lists parking lots opening at 3 p.m. as well as gates opening at 6:30 p.m. ahead of the 8 p.m. kickoff.

Or to get as far away from the ass-kicking as possible.

Eh I expect us to lose by less than two touchdowns

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Locksley announced today that the following 3 players have ended their careers for medical reasons:

  • WR Chris Jones (RS Senior)
  • DL Cam Spence (RS Sophomore)
  • LB Nnamdi Egbuaba (RS Senior)

Jones and Spence will now serve as student assistants for the team, and Egbuaba will be completing his Master's Degree.
