Maryland coach Michael Locksley said that safety Antwaine Richardson tore his ACL at practice Saturday and will likely miss the 2019 season.

Big loss here, as Richardson was expected to start at free safety. Ought to be a wide open competition, wonder if Antoine Brooks might slide up from nickel to safety as was considered last season.

For your depth chart, Brian Plummer is not even on the team anymore....hasn't been for a

few months.......

TJ Bradley is out for 6 months, if not the season....

Mckennie RT1, Spencer Anderson is the LT2, Fontaine LG2, HamiltonC2 as of Saturday's

Scrimmage

Harrison is not even cleared for contact. AntMac  is LockeIn at RB1

They are playing a standard 3 4 Def.

Brooks is a SS, Mosley at FS with Richardson's injury

Olu is the #1 NG right now.  Mclean and Breyon are 2 and 3.  Swap Khulka and Lawtez Rodgers

Keandre Jones isn't even eligible at the moment

Brand and Nchami are your 2 edge /OLB

Campbell and Eley are you 2 ILB with Isaiah Davis not cleared.....Eley WILL start this season.  Vocal leader

and signal caller for the defense

this Is how things currently are which gives these guys a huge advantage going in to summer and fall camp

Testudo Times: Clemson LB Shaq Smith in transfer portal, Maryland a likely destination

Clemson linebacker Shaq Smith has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal and attached a “do not contact” tag, implying he doesn’t want other schools to reach out to him. His connections to Maryland make the Terps the presumed favorite.

Maryland’s relation to Smith centers on new defensive backs coach Cory Robinson, who coached the Baltimore native at Calvert Hall as an assistant before Smith left for IMG Academy. Robinson joined Mike Locksley’s staff in December.

With the Terps switching to a 3-4 scheme this year, having Smith able to step into a starting ILB spot immediately beside Isaiah Davis would be huge.

Went ahead and updated my projected depth chart: https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing

I changed the defensive alignment to a 3-4, though things will shuffle a bit with the amount of nickel they'll end up using. I'd expect Shaq Smith to replace Ayinde Eley as the starting WLB alongside Isaiah Davis. When the team does go into nickel formations, Antoine Brooks is expected to slide back into his normal nickel spot, with Nick Cross/Raymond Boone taking over the SS spot.

Very odd, he really came on towards the end of last season. Academics were an issue for him when he first committed, have to wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Locksley just announced McLean is no longer part of the program. Quite the development, big loss.
