I've been to a lot of American cities this summer and throughout my life, and I really think that most cities don't have a neighborhood that matches Lower Fells in terms of a combo of very walkable good bars and restaurants (quality + immense quantity) plus some nice shops, along with being on the water and having the historical factor.

Closest I can think is Boston in terms of having neighborhoods like Fells.

Underrated: mustard (not basic yellow)
Overrated: Mayo
Properly rated: Ketchup

Old Bay and Vinegar (boardwalk fries!) are both excellent.
