I may throw some random names out as I go.

I will always remember Priest Holmes as the original fantasy football monster (when fantasy football completely took off).

How about Greg Vaughn? Kent Hrbek? John Olerud?

These are kind of the definition of those very solid guys, who just get forgotten about over time.

Vaugh had 355 career homers, 4x All-Star... 3 years with at-least 40 bombs.

Hrbek part of those Twins teams....

Olerud seems to be best remembered for his helmet.... but I remember the year he flirted with 400.

I agree, but they're a lot of names that, for their quirks, made me love baseball.

I might not necessarily be following the rules, but dammit I'm reminiscing and you're not gonna stop me, bruh.

Mickey Tettleton, for example. Roberto Kelly. Terry Pendleton and Ron Gant. Devon White.

Mackey Sasser. :-P

Ray Rice.

Yeah, I think he fits.  He will only be remembered for the punch....   but as a player, he was really good for a span of time.

Yeah, that's a great one as well.  Supremely talented. Could have had huge career numbers.

That's actually what I remember him for, more than anything. There was a lot of debate over whether you'd want a pure hitter like Olerud as your first baseman over a crusher like Frank Thomas, that year. I'd take Frank every day, but whatever.

Another WR of that era... not as good as Sharpe... but solid career numbers..  Andre Rison.

The NBA lets everyone into the HOF so I doubt many qualify.

Also random OL on other teams that none of us remember. Basically the guys equivalent to Yanda.

Does Jimmy Smith (Jaguars) count, or is he still familiar enough?

I think that we, as Ravens fans, remember him a lot more than the entirety of the NFL does.

Another former Oriole...  he was a bad man...  for awhile, the most feared hitter in the American League...

If you asked this question to people who weren't O's fans, you might get Brady Anderson.

I think Brady is a good one in that he wasn't just a solid player, multiple time All-Star... he also had a ridiculous season.

Some of the guys mentioned, I wouldn't have, because they were never 'elite'...  but otoh, I like them being listed because they were very solid guys, that time forgets.

Could also say on the flip side, that someone like Belle doesn't belong...  because he generally is remembered by those who saw him play... I'm including him because he was elite for sometime.... but because his career ended early, he isn't looked at as the player he was.

I think that the entire Tigers infield (Fryman, Whitaker, Trammel, Fielder) could be seen as varying levels of "forgotten players." Fryman, especially.
