Almost feels like Carolina is on the Power Play the whole period. Were getting beat on practically every match up, and are lucky we haven't lost yet.

A well deserved loss, they blew a 2-0, and 3-1 lead. Once Carolina tied it 3-3, we were non existent for most of the 2 OT's.

Thought defending would be more fun. It was short lived...and not fun.

Reirdon should be gone.
That was pretty awful. Part of me hopes Trotz stock it to em and wins again.
Then again I can’t in good conscience root for anything New York. So I’m on the Sharks and Joe Thornton bandwagon now. Or Blues. Well well well overdue for a cup in St Louis.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

This is not how a champion goes out.

Winning the Cup takes so many things, including player health. Losing Kempny late in the season hurt, and then we lost Oshie too. Does that mean we couldn't and shouldn't have beaten Carolina of course not, but when Oshie went down that was a red flag to me that it might not be "our" year. Guys got hurt in last years run but no long term time out. Seeing three other division winners (and favorites) go down in the first round didn't have me feeling good either.
Am I pissed they lost to Carolina, of course. Did I want them to keep Trotz, absolutely. But at the end of the day we still won the Cup last year in an amazing playoff run and we'll always have that. It's hard to be too bummed about this season after winning it last, but that's just me.

Did Carolina take speed before OT? They were on another level than the Caps.

I'm not a Hockey Knower, but I thought the same thing. Especially in the first OT, the Caps looked completely gassed.

They were. They were getting manhandled in the 3rd so the scoring lines that were actually attempting something started getting double shifted towards the end trying to win it, in the first OT the first line was already at 30 min on ice. They were on fumes then, and 2OT they had to be on adrenaline alone.
