Caps getting absolutely lit up in game 3 in Raleigh. Getting out shot 33-10. Out hit 40-20. Outscored 3-0. This after Ovi knocked Svechnikov out of the game after a 1st period fight.

Fight seemed to fire up Carolina a lot more than the Caps.

I mean it's great that Ovie whooped him, but you never want your start in the box for five minutes, especially in the playoffs.
Carolina wanted this one more.First home game in 10+ years helped as well. Two days off, time for the Caps to regroup and get ready for game 4.

Agree, especially since he was still in the box during a Caps power play.

That was unbelievable. The shot differential, and offensive zone possession for that matter, were so tilted after the first period, it's hard to fathom. Had to be the easiest playoff shutout for a goalie ever. But that poor kid Svechnikov learned a valuable lesson about old man strength last night.
Can only go up from there, and I certainly expect them to bounce back in Game 4. At least it's coming back to DC, regardless. They get loud as hell in Raleigh.

Glass half empty: They played poorly and didn't create many chances
Glass half full: They still had a chance to tie and/or win the game.

Yeah, despite the poor play and turnovers, they still only gave up two goals. But that last power play in the 3rd was horrendous.
Should still be in good shape with the home game coming up on Saturday.

They shouldn't have given up either of those two goals in game 4 of a series. That was just flat out terrible. They played well otherwise, but you just can't give goals up that easy this time of year.
Not time to panic until they lose a home game, but they've played a mediocre team, at best, quite poorly this entire series. They are lucky to be tied.
NHL Playoffs, anything can happen.

Also, pretty sure Trotz will coach circles around Reirdon, not that the Caps can't play well and beat a fairly talentless NYI team. But Reirdon has had an awful series against Carolina, IMO.

To be fair, they just lost one of their top PP guys prior to that opportunity. If you want to complain, the refs should have given 4 or 5 minutes for that play. Related to that though, they need to ditch the damn sling shot, that play is not getting them in the offensive zone on a consistent basis and needs to go.
