Depends on what exactly they have to give up to get Leonard, but I'd much much prefer him as a player.

Spurs apparently dont want Ball...so Ingram, KK, and picks...?

It depends on if that's what secures LeBron and what else they can do from there. I think there's a decent chance LeBron goes to LA regardless. If that's the case I'd be tempted to take my chances on getting Kawhi as a free agent next year even though they just lost out on George with that same strategy.

Among the Sixers' planned top selling points to LeBron James' agent Rich Paul today: Philly believes it still has a real chance to win the Kawhi Leonard trade sweepstakes, league sources say

Simmons, Fultz, Kawhi, James, Embiid.

Kind of question how Simmons and James would work together, but that would be something.... Philly was already a strong defensive team... if they add Kawhi and James, they are going to have teams locked.

I'd actually explore trading Simmons for Kawhi. I haven't looked into what would be required to make that work with the cap, but another team could be brought into the deal to make it work. The Sixers should actually get another asset or two in that deal too.

That solves the Simmons and LeBron fit issue and sets them up as a title contender next year and beyond.

Fultz would be in that deal

Just read that they have told the Spurs no to Fultz, Embiid or Simmons.

How do you plan on getting the deal done then?

Philly for now has said they won't make him available.

Covington, Saric, and multiple 1sts is said to be the offer.

Yeah, I agree.. they'd likely include Fultz if that is ultimately needed.

As Stoner said, Saric,Covington, plus first round picks (including the unprotected 2021 Heat pick). That is not bad for one year of Kawhi. It may not win out, but if the Spurs can't repair the relationship, it's enough to deal him IMO.

It’s better than nothing, I would agree with that.

Lakers likely pay more. Swallow hard and take their best offer.

It's a lot better than nothing. But sure, if they can get Ingram leading a package, that would be better.

Going to be fun. Really hope they add Kawhi now.

It would actually be fun and interesting to see LeBron lead a young and talented team.

But yes, adding Kawhi would be fun too and would very likely make them one of the top teams out west.

I want to see a situation where it's LA and GS in the WCF, with both these teams tracking and playing all year with seeding in mind to avoid Houston. Then a formidable Philly and Boston. Would be a fun few years, more intrigue than these last several. But LA has a long way to go yet to make that fantasy a reality, and they would rely on a lot of youth either way. Been a whirlwind past couple of days. Going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Utah a sneaky threat too. So ideally, the Final Four in the West is legit.

I don't get it.  LA doesn't have the pieces to beat the Warriors.

Well he and his family apparently wanted to live in LA. Plus, the Lakers at least have a good longer term outlook and potentially could be great next year depending on Kawhi.

Houston and Boston were really the only places he could have conceivably went to have a good shot at beating the Warriors next year.
