I never understood the fascination of watching others play video games. I guess I'm old. Young kids are probably like, "why do you watch people play real games?" Because it takes physical skills and the human is inside the game. Not digital characters milling about controlled by a human outside the game. But that's beside the point.
As much as I love football, I never watched those Madden tournaments ESPN or whatever station used to air. I just can't watch video games. I'll gladly play though.
Anyway, a lot of Universities already have eSports varsity teams, meaning many more will soon. That means it will fall under the control of an athletic director just like football, basketball, field hockey, etc... That being the case, eSports isn't going anywhere.
It's unreal. Drew just turned 14, and he watches other people play on YouTube far more than he plays himself. Hours at a time, it's uncanny. I don't get it either, but whatever. He's honestly been waiting since August for Overwatch Season 2 to start...He has jerseys, sweatshirts...etc. Houston is "his team", I have no idea why.
