Hopefully Trotz wants to extend. Very deserving for him, finally a Cup.

Man, even the boos for Bettman were subdued

You can tell it's an expansion city. They'll learn....at least they better, by the time the Raiders and Goodell come to town.

This was one of the best hockey games I've ever seen, too. Such a thrill. They lost the lead on the 7th, got it back in the 8th, and slammed the door shut in the 9th. Ridiculously thrilling way to win the Cup. I can't believe this.

In the name of true sportsmanship....Vegas might not have the Stanley Cup, but the NHL needs to give them some sort of trophy for their pregame routines.

As a low key Caps fan, I'd be happy anyway, but I'm even more happy for y'all true fans. Congrats!

The heartbreak started as a 13 year old getting swept by the dynasty Red Wings. The overall "meh" Jagr era, capped by a 2003 first round loss to TB. Ovi brought new heights of passion to being a Caps fan. But didn't end the heartbreak right away. For me, 2009 takes the cake... that team was phenomenal, and lost in 7 to the effing Penguins. They respond the next season by bringing home the President's Trophy, but leading the pack of those unimpressed was Jaroslav Halak. Jaroslav freaking Halak. Then there's the Rangers series, losing game 7's at home, losing series that we lead 3-1. As if all that wasn't enough, Pittsburgh... again... twice... as they march on to win the last two years.

In this run, they beat Tortorella after falling behind in that series 0-2. They beat Pittsburgh without needing 7 games to do it. They beat punk ass Kunitz and a ridiculously good TB team on the road in 7 (after TB equalized the series from a 1-3 deficit). Then they overcome the toast of the league, the "miracle" Knights, led by arch nemesis, Marc Andre-Fleury. They did each of those things and secured each round's victory... on the road.

Ovechkin breaks the franchise record with 15 post-season goals. Kuznetsov posts more than 30 points and Holtby gets redemption. Caps had 15 players score goals in this run. Seemingly, each of them in huge situations. The Smith-Pelly goal tonight was just unfathamobly huge, as have some of his others. Eller with the Cup winner. Vrana, baby faced and all finally breaking through. But i'm most happy for Ovi and Backstrom. Sweet validation.

They won this one for Marty Erat! Long suffering Cap. ;)

Seriously, it's amazing to let all that shit go finally.

Also, sleep isn't anywhere in sight.

The only acceptable reason for him not to be back would be if he decides to retire.

How many FA's do the Caps have? I know the head coach and Carlson. Any other notable names?

Carlson is the big one.

Smith Pelly and Wilson are RFA's

Beagle and Kempny are UFA's.

Obviously Carlson is the big one, but the Kempny trade was the trade that stabilized the D and helped turn the season.  He fit in so well I hope they bring him back.
